Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion finds herself embroiled in controversy once again as former cameraman Emilio Garcia files a lawsuit alleging harassment and a hostile work environment. Garcia, who served as Megan’s cameraman from 2018 to 2019, lodged his complaint in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as reported by NBC News on Tuesday (April 23).
The lawsuit details an unsettling incident allegedly involving Megan during a trip to Ibiza, Spain, in 2022. Garcia claims he was confined in a moving vehicle with the rapper and three other women when Megan engaged in sexual activity with one of them. “I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked,” Garcia recounted in an interview with NBC News. He further stated that Megan issued a directive the next day, commanding him to keep silent about what he witnessed.
Garcia also alleges that Megan disparaged him about his weight during the same trip, a particularly stinging blow given the rapper’s public advocacy for body positivity. “To hear someone who advocates loving your body tell me these things, I felt degraded,” Garcia expressed.
Furthermore, Garcia asserts that following the incident, his pay structure was modified and he faced differential treatment. By June 2023, Roc Nation, Megan’s management, informed him his services were no longer required.
In response to the lawsuit, Garcia’s attorney Ron Zambrano issued a statement condemning Megan’s alleged behavior as “sexual harassment and fat-shaming conduct.” He urged Megan to take responsibility for her actions and compensate his client accordingly.
Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion is gearing up for her Hot Girl Summer Tour set to kick off on May 14. Despite the legal troubles, her single “Hiss” soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February, indicating her enduring popularity amidst the controversy.
